  • Event Module - how to indicate individuals are hosting?

We have an upcoming event where certain individuals will be 'hosting'. They are not sponsors of the event per se (financially speaking), but they will be inviting their friends who have never experienced our museum to this opening. What suggestions does anyone have for how best to indicate this...

  • Re: Events - best practice for processing marathon sponsorships (pledges)

Just an idea I picked up either in Blackbaud training or at a conference from other users: If you have the Tribute module, you can create a tribute, of "sponsoring" to track gifts associated with a runner. Then as gifts/pledges are received add that tribute to it.

  • Event sponsors and registrations fees.

If an event sponsor pays for a table of ten, would you link their gift to the event as a registration fee, and then then not have any registration fees for their guests, or put in registration fees for their guests and pay them from the sponsor's gift, or Both?

  • Re: Advertising as Gift in Kind

I work for a not-for-profit organization. We are required by the IRS to report all gifts in-kind on our 990. We use Raiser's Edge 7 and Financial Edge 7. We have several events throughout the year that provide us with gift in-kind sponsorships for services from that sponsors. For instance, a media...

  • Sponsorship acceptance policities?

I would like to know if anyone has created sponsorship acceptance guidelines or policies. I work for a college, and we would like to implement a policy that would set the guidelines for acceptable sponsors i.e. that the sponsor's values/missions/ethics are aligned with the College's, having a...

  • Re: Events Module General Questions

The sponsor functionality in the RE events module is really for 'athons' in my opinion. I make them all registrants and use the Participation field to indicate sponsors, etc. (Sponsor, Renewal, Prospect, Speaker, etc.) I use the comment field next to the registration fee unit to list how they...

  • Re: Does a vendor for an event get a tax deduction for their fee?

I would say no. They are purchasing vending space for that fee. If in the future you set it up that they are "Sponsors" by donating to the race and a benefit of being a sponsor is getting a space and you takeout a potrtion of said donations as goods and services (the space to sell/promote)...

  • Re: Events Module: Participation

We use a Hierarchy for Participation: Neither of which I use to track the 2 things you're tracking Example: Sponsor, Donor, Guest, Vendor etc. Sponsorships and reservations are broken out further by using registration fees. Committees we track using Constituent Attributes - not the actual event Table...

  • Re: What is the best practice for adding individuals, organizations, contacts, and relationships to an event?

Margaret - If I'm understanding you correctly - you are asking about the difference of entering the company as a Sponsor for the Event - vs a Non-Participating Participant. I use a different practice depending on the event and what we are terming as "sponsorship". For example - for our...
