Getting a "Runtime Error" when doing simple mail merge
I am trying to do a simple mail merge and keep getting a message "runtime error! program: c:\program file\microsoft office\office\winword.exe and then the merge fails. I spoke with Blackbaud, they advised me to re-install MS Office which I've done (twice) and still keep getting the same error...

We've had problems with this too, not for mailings, we use addressee for that. But if someone creates a master list to use for a mailing and for rsvp's and uses the first names on the rsvp list, deceased spouses have shown up. It creates a stir because those who don't understand the database...

You said you can't open it - do you get an error message? Is it a query you created? Just grasping at straws. Did someone else create the query and uncheck the box ' others users may run this query'? Don't know if that could cause the problem. I think I'd try the online chat support...

If I'm following you, you are doing an export from RE to excel or access and then using a letter created in MS Word as your merge document. Once you've exported your data out of RE, I believe any problems you have are Microsoft not Blackbaud issues. Sorry not much help with why Excel/Word are...
