Mail Musings: Head of Household Processing
Imagine that you are Mr. Belding , principal of Bayside High. It's time for you to send out the Class of 1993 alumni newsletter, and you want to make sure that it goes to each alumnus's address only once. For some of your alumni, that's easy - Jesse Spano , A.C. Slater , and Lisa Turtle all...

Re: Only one please
I assuming you are processing your mailing list through RE Mail. If your using Export then this may/may not apply I would think you will want to use "Mail only to constituents marked Head of Household". You will need the 'with spouse addressee' field on the head of household record...

Soft credit for gifts before marriage?
I sent an appeal to anyone who hadn't given to anything in the last last 10 years, using head of household processing. We received a check from the wife (non-head-of-household) and saw that she DID have gifts on her record from the past 10 years. Since the gifts were given before she and her husband...

Record processing - spousal relationships
Our organization currently creates two records for the husband and wife if their individual relationship with the organization is different. For example, say the husband is a Board Member and the wife is volunteer. The husband will have a record that links to the wife, the husband is head of household...

Separate Spouse Records
I'm dealing with the issue of when it is appropriate to create a separate record for a spouse. For the most part, our policy is to keep the husband and wife together on one record. Of course, this becomes tricky when dealing with information that is unique to one or the other. For instance, the area...

Head of Household records
Can anybody explain to me a neat method of handling 'head of household' records, whereby (in our example) we have two Alumni who live at the same address, and so only one piece of literature needs to be mailed to the household, rather than one per constituent? Thanks, Pete

Re: Query needs to exclude duplicate records
Hi Alison, You may need to take another step by combining your query with a mail task to best use the head of household processing, see knowledgebase articles BB19753 and BB520345. How do you want to use the query results? Are you exporting from the results tab of your query? Do you want to use the data...

Head of Household - which spouse?
Hi there, My director is thinking of changing how we handle head of household. Can I hear from some people about how you handle HoH at your org? Thanks, Mary

Reporting of soft credits
Cry Scream Freak Out These have been my approaches in the past. Spousal soft credits is a huge problem in RE and there is no way I have found to fix this. Where I was previously the couples giving was maintained on one record except in very few exceptions. This eliminated much of the cleanup problems...

Spouse's with Seperate Memberships
We have this sort of individual only membership and if both spouses wanted to be a member they would both pay the fees and then both have their own membership record. We don't actually have any couples where both people are have a membership but I do have a solicit code set up to filter one of them...
