Does anyone "book" conditional pledges? We have been awarded a grant for $20,000. The first $15,000 will be paid by a selected date and the final $5,000 will be paid only if certain criteria are met. Does anyone have a policy or procedure that you could share with me on how to handle this issue...

Melissa's suggestion of using gift subtypes is a great one. You can have pledges in RE, record payment against pledge and not deal with write-offs and yet with by GL# tell finance what is cash vs. pledge payment. And even if an org is using gift subtype for other purposes you can add this purpose...

Just additional info: If you are integrated with FE or finance software, you/your business office will need to put in the appropriate GL#s for the gift sub-type to have it post correctly.

If they all go to same GL account/fund then that's not an option. I'd suggest the gift subtype. It's a table field on each gift record so entry would be consistent, can be used for query.
