  • Re: What is everyone Standard for Constituency Codes.???

Hi Diane, We use constituency codes and attributes. Constituency codes are why someone is in our database e.g. Professional Advisor, Accountant, Bequest, Committee Member, POT1 (prospect at the $1mm level) Active (active prospect) etc. We have about 100 constituency codes. Yes, that seems like a lot...

  • Soliciting Business owners vs. the business

When conducting annual solicitations we want to ensure that those individuals who own businesses are being solicited not the business and worse yet, we want to ensure that the we are not sending out a duplicate solicitation. We have several constituents in our database who own their own business. The...

  • Re: Constituency Codes and best practices

Hi Julie, We use constituency codes to define why someone is in our database (with the execption of donor) e.g. board member, committee member, volunteer, staff, professional advisor, media, foundation etc. We use attributes for how a person came to hear about us. To further define a board member who...

Comments by # This is our also our main criteria 1) "What is a person's broad relationship to our organization?" For example, we have Trustee, Staff, Volunteer, and Vendor. These are continuously updated. We record this in an attribute - how the constit got into RE. As to tracking people...

  • Re: Constituency Codes and best practices

Hi Julie, we use our Constituency Code very broadly also. Individual, Corporation, Volunteer, Board Member, etc. If someone happens to fit more than one category then it is added to their record in a hierarchy of sorts. As far as the other questions, they seen like attributes that you would add to the...

  • Re: Constituency Codes and best practices

I'd like to spart this conversation again, if others are willing... I'd like to know how other organizations define the constituent code table. We seem to have several definitions all working together, which creates confusion over what codes to add, when to add them, etc.: 1) "What is a...

  • Re: Constituent Codes and Reporting

The beauty of RE at work! We have 21 board members and 800-1000 committee members (folks who serve on our grant or scholarship review committees). We don't need to do a lot of reporting on these constituents so our process works for us. Mostly we include these groups in our mailings and for special...

  • Re: Constituent Codes and Reporting

Hi Gina, Our board members have a Volunteer (VOLT) constituency code as well as Board (BOAR). When a board member leaves the board we record there term and committees they served on in the Notes of RE with a note type of Board/Committee. This allows us to change the code on Bio2 to Former Board without...

  • Re: Constituent Codes and Reporting

We use code "Board Member" with 'date from' entered at start of term and 'date to' entered when leave the board. If elected again, they get a second code of 'Board Member' with 'date from'... It works for us, may not be ideal for every org.

  • Re: Constituent Codes and Reporting

Not sure why they would tell you these shouldn't be constituency code. Code should reflect the relationship to your org. We have employee/staff, board etc as codes. When they say move the majority of your codes, how many do you have? Can they be cleaned up/combined? We don't use a constituency...
