  • BBNC API Allows Form and Function

Blackbaud formally announced today that all Blackbaud NetCommunity customers can now receive The Raiser's Edge API without having to pay a software license fee. The BBNC API has always been free to use for clients and this was the next logical step to encourage more development. Our BBNC API wiki...

  • Blackbaud NetCommunity API is for the Birds

The great part about my job is that I get to work with a wide variety of so many nonprofit organizations. And from time to time you draw more of a personal connection to the things a nonprofit is doing. This post is about one of those connections. I grew up in Jamestown, New York , home of the naturalist...

  • Re: Microsoft Access

Hi- Don't I need to have API access to get to the tables? To my knowledge, we can only access the tables via the query function. Is this correct? I have some complicated reports I have been asked to create, so additional access to the tables would be helpful. Ideas? Thanks, Jo

  • Re: Merge Constituents

There is no equivalent merge function in the API unfortunately. You have to do it manually. David

  • Plugin Directory

I have produced a new resource cataloguing the available plugins for all Blackbaud products. The Directory is open to everyone to view, search, and download non-commercial plugins. According to the Blackbaud API help file a plugin is defined as a: "specially built applet extensions to The Raiser's...

  • Combining Two Codes For Export To Accounting

The only automated way that I know of (although I am sure somebody will correct me if I am wrong) is to make use of a VBA customization. This would be a relatively straight forward customization that could be done in house (if you have the VBA expertise) or an external consultant (it really should not...

  • Record Duplication Criteria - Help!

Actually that is just what it is there for. It looks up the ID based on name and address criteria so that you can tell whether or not the constituent already exists and if it does exist you are given their constituent and import id. So it is perfect for lists where you do not know the RE constituent...

  • Record Duplication Criteria - Help!

Hi Ann, I have a plug-in that a number of clients use that looks up the ID of the constituent before being imported into Raiser's Edge. The problem with the duplication criteria in RE is two fold. Firstly it is not flexible enough and secondly if RE does not find a dupe it imports it by which time...

  • Making or Not Making Address A Required Field?

To my knowledge, you can not require one OR the other (address lines OR email) using basic RE parameters. It does not work that way. You may be able to use API or VBA with advanced programming to require them that way but not with basic parameters. So you would make them both not required and create...
