Alias - Using in mailings instead of the organization name
Is there a way to tell the system to use the alias name in a letter or envelope? I have accounts set up as *.*, The with an alias of The *.*. When I try to make an envelope, I don't see anywhere you can use the alias so that the envelope reads properly. Am I missing something?

Re: what do you do when your sponsors get sold?
Corporations merge and change hands all of the time. Our rule of thumb is if the address is the same but they have merged and the company has a new name (on their checks, mind you, not just what they want to be recognized as - tons of banks and investment firms that donate to us place us in exactly this...

Re: Aliases
Hi Lee and Rose, You can also set your duplicate criteria to consider aliases by ticking the box in the lower left corner of the Configuration, Business Rules, Duplicate Criteria for either Individuals or Organizations and can use Options in that area to automatically check for duplicates. I hope that...

Aliases
How does one search/use Aliases. I have just entered a new organization which is a numbered company that operates under a business name. I have entered the business name under 'Org Name" and in the 'Aliases' option I have added their numbered company name. I would like to be able to...

Vendor Address Accuracy
Do you have a vendor that does business under one name but wants their checks made out to a different name or a vendor that has multiple addresses? Track addresses and additional pieces of information on the often overlooked Addresses tab on the vendor record. You can update an existing address or click...

Re: Tributes - without the module
We do not have the tribute module either. Is your question on ways to deal with who the tribute is in reference to? Depending on the amount of activity we've approached it several ways. We used to use the reference field but format consistency was difficult and was afraid of missing someone. When...

Constituent Corner: Aliases and Nicknames
Before J.J. Abrams rebooted Star Trek , menaced New York City with Cloverfield or got Lost , he was inspired by the Bio 1 tab in The Raiser's Edge to create Alias . While the Alias button won't turn you into a super-spy/master-of-disguise, it partners with the Nickname field as a way for you...

Re: Auto-generated ID numbers
We had the exact same format (7#s, C+7#s for corps) in our old system. We converted the old ID# as an alias (We can then search on it when looking up constituents) and just had RE auto-assign consistent IDs for all records. This has worked out well as all of our RE IDs are the same format and we no longer...

Merging two foundation records
Question: If two foundations (that are constituents) are merging with a new name, what is the best way to merge their records? Should I merge both records, using new name and placing old names as alias? When gifts are merged, will I be able to see the history of who gave through which original foundation...

Re: Introducing the Community Foundation Forum
Not sure if this is the place to ask this question, if not let me know. Question: If two foundations (that are constituents) are merging with a new name, what is the best way to merge their records? Should I merge both records, using new name and placing old names as alias? When gifts are merged, will...
