Phone number placement
I am having a disagreement with my boss, so I thought I would poll everyone to see what they do with their phone numbers. I prefer to put the correct phone number with the correct address (i.e., main phone number is with main address on bio one, work phone is with business information, winter phone is...

Condensing Multiple Addresses
Hello, I am in the process of doing a magazine mailing to my entire database and have been told to only send on magazine to each address. I'm looking for the quickest, least painful way to make this happen. In some cases there are 4 constituents per household. In the past, I've manually gone...

Re: Bad Address Good Phone Number
[quote user="Charmaine Desmeules"]This happens to our database a lot, especially if they are only moving a few blocks away. My solution is: go to ADDRESS tab, click on current address, go to Address in toolbar, copy/share address. You will now have 2 versions of the same address. I mark one...

Records for couples who are separated with different addresses
I am wondering how other organizations handle records when a couple are separated and each have different addresses. Limit access to specific Address types
Is there a way to limit access to specific address types? In this case, most users should be able to view constituent addresses, but a few constituents have addresses in "sensitive" areas of the world; and we want only a few staff to be able to see those particular addresses. These same constituents...

Participant Code Requirement from the USPS
We are required by the USPS to store a participant code on every record in our database that would be pulled on a mailing list. This is because we will be participating in the electronic address change service. The code will consist of seven alpha characters and will be the same for every record. The...

Mail Musings: Address Processing, Part II: Organizations and Contacts
In an earlier blog post , I discussed how Address Processing works for Individual records. In this follow-up segment, we will look at how Organization and Contact records are processed in Mail. For Organization Address Processing, if you have marked the option Mail Only to the Organization in Step 1...

Mail Musings: Address Processing, Part I: Individuals
In a better world , every Individual, Organization, and Contact record would have one all-purpose address. Because the world isn't that perfect, The Raiser's Edge accomodates multiple addresses on each record. When it's time to send a mailing, Address Processing shuffles through those addresses...
