Tracking RE Changes

Is there any way to track or report on when or who made global changes to records? Or, how can you track changes that may have been made with tables/attributes? It need to resolve some training/security issues but this would be incredible helpful in the meantime.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Country Code Table

We recently came across the need to add a new country code which is usually not a difficult task. However, when I went to access the country code table, I couldn't find it. It seems the entire table has disappeared and has somehow been deleted. We're still able to use the country field during data entry so I never realized it was missing. Has anyone come across this problem before? If so, what did you do to resolve the issue? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Improving Database

This is my second month in the Blackbaud commuity; I work for a large private school and support the RE database for our Development Office.
I have previous experience working with large database [other platforms] SAS, 4th Dimension, Access, etc.

The database was setup before I started working in this dept. and many users have experience varying from 1 yr. to 8 yrs.
I need to learn the structure database quickly; need to create queries, dashboards, reports, etc.

Question: What would be the best solution for learning more about how this database and attributes? Printout of Tables, etc.

I understand how tables are used, but need to know how the user has setup naming conventions, [a campaign and a fund] currently has the same named. When the director ask for a query - it very confusing!
Any suggestions will be helpful. I am scheduled for BB training and I have reviewed many user guides.

Letters Table

I am trying to determine how the Letters table works in Configuration. Our letters table has 5 menu items but only under "Gift" are there any letters. The information about these letters is sparse as well. ie) We have a letter in this table called "Mailer" and that's it, that's all the information I have, the Letter Description is "Mailer" and the File Location and Export Name are both blank. We have about 30 letters in the table and 4 of them have an Export attached to them, other than that, there is zero information. I have set up several letters in the Mail tab, however, I've never used the Letters table. Any insight would be appreciated.

Different Bank accounts

I would like to track donations which received and deposited to various bank accounts. For various reasons, we have maintain several bank accounts for individual fund category i.e. Enodment, Education assistance, Patient Welfare etc. Similarly, funds received from overseas are kept in seperate bank account. Please guide my how can I configure in RE?

need report of email forwarding addresses

I understand there is no report or stat on the number of email forwarding addresses in Netcommunity. I need to get a count of how many we have in netcommunity and how many are using their forwarding addresses. I was told there was no data dictionary or other resource to explain what table might be used in the BBNC database. I was hoping that someone else had found the correct tables and could provide the names for me. I'll run a quick sql script to get the count.

Table of Professions

I am trying to "tame" our table of professions which has gotten out of hand over the years. Does anyone have what they consider a very workable list that they would be willing to share? And for anyone seeking amusement, check out the list of occupations in Wikipedia -- it is very comprehensive. :-)

Administrative Advice: Clearing the Table

Your database can fall victim to clutter just as easily as anything else in your life. Thankfully, The Raiser's Edge includes the Table Cleanup utility, which will streamline your database with just a few clicks of the mouse.

Table Cleanup replaces existing table entries with new ones. If you want to completely delete a table entry without replacing it, see Knowledgebase solution BB83397.

To use Table Cleanup, go to Configuration, Tables, select a table, and click Table Cleanup in the action bar. From here, select the entries to replace and the value to replace them with. Mark the Delete table entries that are being replaced checkbox and click Replace Now to finish the task. This is also in Knowledgebase; it's BB81596. Below is an example using the Phone Types table:

One way to keep your tables from getting cluttered in the first place is to limit users' rights to add table entries. Anyone with Supervisor rights will be able to add, edit, or delete table entries, but all other users can be restricted.

Go to Administration, Security, and open the group to edit. If you want to limit access to all code tables, unmark the Code Tables checkbox in the Group Privileges frame. If you only want to limit access to specific code tables, mark the Code Tables checkbox. Then click Options to open the Code Tables Change Privileges screen. On this screen, you can pick and choose which tables users will have rights to add or edit table entries.

Translation table for Raiser's Edge

Hi,

Has anyone out there in the vast RE user world managed to develop and write a translation list (dictionary) of all the table names and relationships in RE 7? I know that Blackbaud have yet to develop one, hence the email to the forum.

Our idea so far have been to use the tables from the Imports (Admin module). Obviously, this is time consuming and they don't map out the relationships between tables.
