Setting up registration for multi-faceted events

I'm currently trying to set up online registration for our annual alumni reunion. This event is large and involves participants registering for a number of dinners, lunches, seminars, etc. When I looked at the event registration part in NetCommunity, it makes participants register for everything all at once, which can get confusing when you're looking at 3-4 different dinners/lunches and several seminars. Is there any way to split those registrations into more steps than the 5 that are currently available?

Also, we're trying to capture preferences for the dinners--which year they specify will help us keep track of what our needs are in regards to seating and locations. Any idea how I can do this without adding a separate event (or pricing category) for each option?

Donation Form - Multiple Designations Payment Summary (multiple emails and amounts)

I have a hard time believing that we are the only organization with this situtation, so here is my post...

We allow our constituents to donate to multiple designations using different NetCommunity v5.6 forms based on the fund (e.g. hunger has its own form, disaster has a different form) just because we have roughly 30 funds. If we use multiple forms, the donor gets a separate e-mail for each designated fund (e.g. if you split your gift to three funds, you get three emails and your gifts are enter in RE as three separate donations - which throws off donor analytics).

Blackbaud has been very helpful in our attempt for a solution. They suggested using one form and opening a new window for the donor that wants to read about the fund. If we use one form, it solves the multiple email and multiple gift problem (the email issue will be resolved in the next version of the software). However, you cannot navigate off of this form to read about the fund or you lose all of your gifts in your 'cart'. Our fund raising unit did not really like that.

So, after all that, does anyone use multiple forms for donations? If so, how do you handle the multiple email issue? Then, how do you handle the split gifts going into the Raiser's Edge constituent as separate amounts rather than one total amount?

p.s. We initially went with the eStore which could solve this, but it had issues and had to be customized which would be additional maintenance costs.

How you manage to record donation which is not in Danish Krone. Are you converting all in your defualt currency and keeping notes or you are keeping record in original currency instead of converting into Danish?

NetCommunity Forms In Spanish, Other Languages?

Hi, does anyone deal with designing donation pages in Spanish? I know the web designer can control some areas of the design for say, a donation part, so can the donation form be converted to Spanish or another language other than having Blackbaud change the code for the form?

API using Visual Studio 2005

I am writing an app in Vb using Visual Studio 2005 and the RE API and have run into a problem displaying a Constituent form. Strangely I have been able to display an RE Gift form in exactly the same environment and with nearly identical code. Has anyone come upon similar problems?

Blackbaud technical support had no problems running the code.

Has anyone experienced anything similar? Hopefully with a solution?

UserForm not on Windows taskbar

I'm new to RE VBA and appreciate any assistance with the following problem :)

When I launch a VBA userform through a macro from the RE shell it does not appear on the Windows taskbar. So if I switch to another application (like Excel) I can't get back to the userform by clicking an icon on the taskbar or using ALT-Tab to rotate through windows. RE itself disappears from the Alt-Tab. There is still an RE icon on the taskbar but when I click it I go back to the RE and not to the userform. Since the userform is still open I hear the "thunk" that tells me a window is open and needs to be closed...since I can't access it I can't close it so effectively RE has crashed.

I get the same behavior whether the "ShowModal" property of the form is set to "true" or false.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on correcting this!

Calendar Control

I am looking for a calendar (date) control like the one that appears in the date column of the attributes pages in RE.

It is not one of the default controls. I tried RE7_SC72.SuperCalendar, but that is not what I want.

I am creating a macro for entering a new individual consitutent. Unfortunately the only reference I have found so far to Forms in the RE VBA esentials guide is on page 98, where it indicates that "VBA provides full-featured forms design support", where I "can design a custom data entry form". It does not however, explain how to do this. After much reseach, trial, and error I have found that I must start the macro with the following code in the module named "User_Macros":

Where "AddNewMember" is the name of the macro. Now my macro is being terminated as follows:

This is taking place in the form, not in the original User_Macro module. The "Closedown" and "Nothing" lines are to shut down the Code Tables Server that I am using to load a combo box -- it took me quite awhile to figure out how to do this also, especially since there was an error in the sample code. But I am wondering if I am going to end up with any memory leaks from not unloading the form? Is this done automatically as part of the "End" statement? I cannot figure out how to return to the original code and unload the form.
