  • Re: Defining Government Contacts

I just tackled this today and I've got my fingers crossed. We are moving to making everyone a constituent, rather than having contacts. I met with other users in the office and they agreed that we should add more specific constit codes for major groups that we work with, so I had Hospitals and today I added Hospital Contacts because we have so ...

  • Re: Tracking Cash Raised from Raffle

We have 2 constituent records: One for Annonymous (personal) donations and one for raffles where we don't know names. This helps us segment a little bit. We credit the annonymous donation or raffle total to which ever appeal or event, if we can, like a raffle at the golf tourny, XYZ program, etc. We have done raffles at corporate events, or ...

  • Re: How do you track mailings that your donors received?

As with many of you, we are beginning to track non-solicitations. I attempted my first use of Actions today and didn't see a way to see, at a glance, what was being sent or what a meeting was about. First you choose meeting, phone, etc. Then I have several drop-downs like Follow-up meeting, Request for Sponsorship, Introductory Letter, but I ...

  • Re: Retrieving all email addresses

You would create a Constit query. For criteria, I usually go under addresses and ask for all email addresses that are not blank. But be forwarned . . . this will NOT pick up people who are contacts, but not full constituents. You'll have to do a second relationship query for contacts with emails. To add insult to injury, you can't merge ...

  • Re: Setting Up Contacts within Organizations - Mail Merge

Wow. This is exactly the topic I logged on for, with a slight rabbit trail. I am not at the mail stage yet and need to enter many organizations and people associated with them that many staff are giving me. Any best practice as to whether I enter the company with a relationship to the individual or the individual with a relationship to the ...

  • Best way to code const. & attributes for an easy retreive

As a new user charged with organizing the database there are a lot of options. We're small and have about 15 const codes and 30 attributes. We need to add more. It seems easiest to just keep adding them here. BB staff mentioned further breaking out attributes using the table feature. The problem is, you have to click on the field next to ...

  • Re: Acknowledgement for Certain Level of Donors

I would definately acknowledge every donor EXCEPT people who sponsor another at a "thon" event. I have asked my committees and they've all said it is up to the participant to thank their own donors. We do send letters to event donors of $250 or more. Also, regarding a prior comment, you can't send things by post card for ...
