  • Process for Who Does What

We get about 10,000 gifts per year. We have a full-time Donor Relations Coordinator who does all data entry, runs all reports, and does all the pulls for the mailings. We use volunteers to mail out the letters & receipts. Our standard is that gifts are entered within 24 hours and letters/receipts go out within 48 hours. At a pinch, this can be ...

  • Individuals vs. Family Foundations?

We create a record for the Family Foundation that has a relationship both to the individual and to any third party (like a community foundation) that hosts the family foundation. Then we soft-credit the individual and the third party. Trish Morgan Associate Director Pathways Hospice Foundation [Email Removed]

  • Donor Recognition

I'm not sure I understand why the first wife deserves more respect than the second, or why the Mr. & Mrs. format is more respectful. We have this same situation in a couple of cases and we froze the giving level of John & Jane Smith when she died (that name will never move higher), then gave John & Joy Smith credit for all of John's giving ever ...

  • Formatting Phone Numbers

We use ###-###-#### for RE, but for all publicly displayed phone numbers (in appeals, ads, etc.) we use the dotted format - it looks better, we think. (Perhaps it's a San Francisco Bay Area thing, since Krys & I are about 4 miles apart.) That being said, you can format RE to do either parentheses or dashes. There is no official standard that I ...

  • Pledges paid by volunteer - receipt to donor

Tara - We have your exact situation. We have two different families who hold events to benefit us, and in both cases they occasionally get checks made out to them or they receive cash. In those cases, they either countersign the check or deposit it and write us one consolidated check. We enter the donations on the records of the people who ...

  • Newsletters

Thanks to all of you for your responses. We have been sending out 3-4 newsletters a year - it varies slightly based on other projects, each one has a remit envelope stapled inside. Our newsletters are usually 8 pages, but one issue each year is 16-20 pages, because it includes all the names of people in whose memory or honor gifts have been ...
  • Newsletters

Hi, all - I am looking for information on newsletters. Does your organization send out newsletters? If so, are they printed or electronic? How many times per year do you publish? Thanks for the help! Trish Morgan Associate Director Pathways Hospice Foundation [Email Removed]
  • Org with THE in it's title

Melissa - When I export, I get the sortkey just right - for The\Health Trust, the sortkey exported was Health Trust. Trish Morgan Associate Director Pathways Hospice Foundation [Email Removed]

  • Checking timesheets

Our payroll person always checks - and often finds mistakes (as I personally know!). Trish Morgan Associate Director Pathways Hospice Foundation [Email Removed]

  • Event Management & Tracking

We do have the event module, but despite that I track invitations sent on the Appeals tab. On the appeal tab, you can track their response to that invitation. For attendance, I would create an attribute of Events Attended and then have a table of all the events. Trish Morgan Associate Director Pathways Hospice Foundation [Email Removed]
