    constituent codes for hospitals

Hi, I'm helping out a friend with Raiser's Edge, who was just hired at a hospital.

She said they have 30 constituent codes, which need to be narrowed down.

Was wondering what type of constituent codes are used at other healthcare organizations.

Thanks for any help you can give me.

    Re: constituent codes for hospitals

Paula, the consituent codes for our organization tells us for the constituent's relationship with us or of how they became involved with us

    for ex: we have :

trustees, employees, clients, program donors (they only give to specific programs) that tells us about the relationship, or event attendee (someone who came to one of our event, both fundraising or public relations), media

The constituency codes helps segregrate the individuals in the database, so we may have specific mailings just for clients, employees, program donors and so on.  or we may group giving history reports based on which of these groups they fall into.

by the way, it's ok to have 30 constitency codes,as long as there's a logical reasoning behide each code.
