    Terminal Services Server hardware requirements

We are looking into implementing Terminal Services for users to log in to RE 7.84.  I am looking for advice on what kind of hardware I would need to support 20 simultaneous connections.  The Management Console and Database are on a seperate server.  Do I need to go to a multiprocessor platform using Quad core?  How much RAM should I have?  Unfortunately, there are no specific requirements listed for running terminal services in the System Recommendations that Blackbaud listed.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,

    Jose

Quad core servers are so cheap these days there's no reason not to get one.  But dual-core would be just fine.  Our current citrix servers use dual-core cpus and have 4 GB of ram and we typically host about 30 sessions on each simultaneously.

Our Terminal Server is 3 years old. It's a P4 with 3gb RAM and mirrored 70gb SATA drives. We have no speed issues. What I'm finding is, how RE connects to the database server affects performance much more than hardware. If I were buying a new server, I'd get a Xeon Dual Core processor w/ 3gb RAM and whatever drive configuration your comfortable with. You'll find you'll need to reboot your Terminal Server once every week or two also. We're in the process of going to Citrix right now, but the TS was a very cheap and good solution.
