In our shop, we put the gift amount in a gift attribute if we cannot reconcile between the money that comes in and the donor's pledge. For example, with United Way checks, the donor pledged $100, but we only see $95 because of the fees United Way takes out. So we record a $0 gift from the donor and put the $100 in the gift attribute description. (The $95 would go in United Way's record)
I have the following formula to show gift amount in my report:
if not isnull {GfAttrCat_1.GfAttrCat_1_Description}) then {GfAttrCat_1.GfAttrCat_1_Description}else {Gf.Gf_Amount}
For some reason, this formula only returns an amount if that amount is in the attribute description. If there is an actual value in Gf.Gf_Amount above 0, the gift doesn't show up in the report at all. Checking or unchecking the null value settings in report options doesn't have any effect.
What's strange is that this formula has worked for me in a different report. What could be happening?
