I'm trying to get a guage on industry standard here.  For our donor recognition listing of alumni by class year, I am assuming that it is appropriate to list only the donor alum (and not their spouse).  However, what if an alum has a spouse who is also an alum?  Would you list alum # 2 under their own class separately, even if they only received soft credit for gifts becuase alum # 1 always writes the checks?

At Worcester State, for donor recognition, both alum get full credit for the $$$ given by either person and are listed in their respective class years. And if they are in the same class year, they are listed separately (Susan Jenkins, Mary Jones, Tom Jones, Frank Jonston, etc) because we don't list as Mr & Mrs. This is for donor recognition lists. This is not for anything the auditors see. The intent is to give as much credit as possible to anyone for any $$$ given in donor recognition listings. Our donor lists do not distinguish between hard credit and soft credit. And because of this, our annual published donor listing is called the "report of giving". Years back it was called the "annual report" but it's more donor recognition listing than a traditional annual report of where we are.

 Don't know what anyone other school. It's just been done this way for years at Worcester State.

 I am curious to see what others do.
