Previous Addresses at schools with Integrated RE/EE databases

This is a question for schools that have integrated RE/EE databases. Do you retain previous addresses when you enter an address change? I am aware of the benefits of doing this for advancement purposes, but how do the other offices respond to this? Our advancement office would like to have previous addresses stored in RE records, but this would also affect linked EE records. Also, for EE people reading this, do you follow the same procedure of retaining previous addresses when an address change is initiated on your side (such as a current student moving)? I don't see an option in EE to Copy a preferred address to alternate, as is available in RE. I am posting in both the EE and RE forums in the hope of hearing from both sides.
