    SQL Server Express

We are converting from Giftmaker Pro to RE 7.82. Can SQL Server Express and RE reside on a non-dedicated server that is also used for general file server purposes? We have a small database (70Mb) and only 3 users. The server specs are HP Proliant ML380 with Intel Xeon Dual Core 2.0Ghz CPU, 2GB RAM and 72GB of disk space.

I believe you should be just fine as long as this is just a file server.  I wouldn't put it on a domain controller or small business server.

It is highly recommended to have a standalone server for RE. Sharing it with gen fileserver will also affect the performance and you may end up taking risk of keeping the whole chunk in one server.

It is a question of What if?
