    Updating database

We just switched from CR 8.5 to XI. One of things I've noticed is that I used to be able to update the RE export and export it to the .mdb while the CR report was open. Now, I get a "Permission denied" message, and not only have to close the report, but I have to close CR completely. This is annoying. Is there a setting that I can change to make it work like before? It looks like CR XI uses an Access/Excel (DAO) data source to link the RE export file to the Crystal report. Version 8.5 did not use this data source which means you'll have to either close down CR all together or use the data explorer to terminate the connection with the export file. It's basically locking the export file when you refresh the report and you need to terminate that connection before it allows you to overwrite the export file again. I have a question for you, when you are editing a report in CR XI, is it very slow? We're having a problem where it takes about 10-15 secs before CR catches up to my command, this is why we're on hold on upgrading to XI, I just have it on my laptop computer right now. I haven't had that problem at all. Nicole D. McMorrow Database Administrator Women's Foundation of California 340 Pine St., Ste. 302 San Francisco, CA 94104 www.womensfoundca.org [Email Removed]
