    Event Group vs. Event Interest

What is "Event Interest" best used for? Discuss the differences between "Event Group" vs "Event Interest".

    Event Group vs. Event Interest

We don't use event interests, but have it set up to use... We have things like various composers names, musical instruments or music types there. For each event it would be assigned something from the event interests. For event groups - we use that to define our seasons. I guess you can use them for whatever, but we tie all of our events for one season to the same event group and can control what sellers see by event group. If we are setting up our next season, no one can see it or sell it until their user group is allowed to sell that event group. Hope that makes sense! Shannon

    Event Group vs. Event Interest

Event groups are helpful for reporting on events. Some system reports have a parameter of "Event Group" to help you narrow down your results. Event Groups are attached to the event only, however, and nothing gets written to a CRM record as a result of a ticket purchase. We don't use them often, but we have on occasion. An event can have multiple Event Groups attached to it if you wish. Event Interests are also attached to events, but when someone buys a ticket to an event, that Event Interest history gets written into the ticket history in their CRM record. (You can see in in the "Interests" column under the Booking tab in a CRM record.) This might be valuable for narrower categorization, say, Modern Dance, Family Programming, etc. An event can also have multiple Event Interests attached. Both are avasilable for selection in the Marketing Mailing/Query Builder. The biggest difference, I think, is one writes to the Client record (Interests) and one doesn't (Groups). Event Group vs. Event Interest

We use Event Groups more than Event Interests. The Event Groups have been very helpful for our Box Office staff to search for certain types of events. We use them to separate Public, School, and Education events, for example. This is also great for reporting on these different segments as well. Event interests may work well as a marketing tool for future performances. I think this would work well, if people were particularly interested in certain composers, authors, types of performances, etc. Dan Wozney Systems Administrator The Children's Theatre Company Minneapolis, MN 612-872-5149 [Email Removed]
