Printing the house for Agent Tickets

Has anyone tried to print a reserved seat house for a rental. The renter then takes all the tickets away and sells them at their own office. We usually do this to accommodate private Dance School Recitals. Anyone had any experience

We do a similar thing for private hires that want to sell their own tickets, but we print the tickets to invoice and they sell their own and then any they don't sell we then put back into the system and then send them a minus invoice. Is that what you mean?

Lisa, Do you print the entire house and charge them to invoice, then accept back any unsold tickets?

yes we do if they want the whole lot to sell, otherwise we split them. They sell half we sell half.

Thank you Lisa, you have given me food for thought. I have not tied to split the house. Have you encountered and accounting irregulations in this process.

only if the tickets are not returned properly, otherwise it has been fine. There probably is a better way of doing it but that's what we have been doing for years and it seems to work fine for us.

If a renter wants to sell the tickets themselves we print the whole house as regular tickets and then they sign that they have received all the tickets. The tickets are then theirs, to do what they want with, just as if they had bought them through ticketcraft or other print house. If they want to sell their own tickets we do not sell any for them. We don't allow them to sell some and us to sell some. Recently I created and sold tickets for a show that was not only not our show, but not even in our building! the school didn't have a way to sell the tickets to the pulic efficiently, so they approached us about doing it for them. We will sell until 3 days prior and then everything goes to them. We'll see how that works.

Re: Printing the house for Agent Tickets

We have many promoters whose tickets are better sold via consignment.  To facilitate this, we reserve the tickets at a "Consignment" price type.  In the price list, we have to make the "consignment" pirce the same price as it would be with fees inlcuded, as reserved tickets do not print with the total price on them.  Then, at a pre-determined date, usually 24 hours before showtime, the promoter returns any unsold tickets.  At this time, we change the price to be $0.00 and add the commission we have contracted with the promoter.  We then confirm the tickets sold as "Consignment" and any returned tickets, we confirm as "Consignment-Unused"  We only do the second part as we charge the promoter $.10 per every ticket printed.  This has worked quite well for us.  We pay off the commission portion to external voucher with the event date being the voucher number for future reference. ex. Midwest Winefest on April 26 had external vouchers numbered 42608.  We then withhold that amount from their final settlement.  They are pleased as they don't have any upfront costs, and we are pleased because, not only did we not have to facilitate those sales, but we also recieved our commissions.  Feel free to contact me with any further clarification you may desire.  Have a great week, everyone!
