    Constituent Code For Widow/ers

    A question for schools...
When an alum dies do you create a spouse record? And if so, what constituent code do you give the widow/er who may or may not have had a relaionship with the school?
We have a business rule set that automatically creates the record for the spouse. But I learned that there was no constituent code assigned. So, I am looking at a cleanup project.
Thanks for all your help. Tina Gorski-Strong

i would also use Friend and would then add a linked relationship with the deceased alum of "deceased spouse" and "surviving spouse" - i wouldn't link them in the spouse tab because i wouldn't want the deceased alum to get credited for any gift that the widow might be donating. I wouldn't automatically add him unless he was being actively solicited or has donated so i don't have my business rules set up to automatically create a record for spouses.
