    DVD/Video for Fundraising

I was wondering if anyone out there has made a DVD/Video to help with fundraising. I'm looking for the following specific information: 1. How much did it cost to make? 2. How did you distribute -- personal, mail, etc? 3. Was it successful? Did you get any contributions? 4. Would you do it again? 5. Would you be willing to share?

    DVD/Video for Fundraising

We have not produced a video since I've been here at the Foundation, but a friend did at another nonprofit org and here is his experience: Michael Bankert California State Parks Foundation ________________________________________________ The video we produced in-house cost about $6,000 to make. That cost was entirely for the videographer. I did the story boarding and supervised the editing. Because we had two celebrities introducing and narrating the video, the end product was very good. This tape has helped us to raise tens of thousands of dollars and perhaps more. We use it in our grant proposals and have shown it at fundraising events and given it to potential donors with very positive results. If an organization produces a high quality video of a program that is telegenic I think this can be a very helpful tool. Most videos however tend to be boring to those that are not directly involved with the organization being documented. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'd be happy to discuss my experience with any of your friends or colleagues.
