    Performance Issues

Is anyone else finding significant lag time in using PE in the box office? we haven't implemented it yet and our testing is finding a very slow response when going to CRM and clicking tabs, such as Membership. Our server is new, our pcs are new, our network cabling is cat6. Any ideas appreciated!

I am not sure what you mean by "significant lag time". We will be going into our third season using PE and have not experienced this. What are you comparing the speed to?

My main user is comparing it to Pass3, running on a 3 or 4 year old server. Pass is DOS-based and uses Megaworks for db engine. Do you have a lot of patrons with 10 year membership history? We were wondering if it was just the massive data (key complaint is the membership tab). Did you convert to PE or "start clean" in it?

We had issues at one thine with CRM accounts taking a long time to open, and found tha if the user's default CRM tab was set to something other than Booking" the CRM screen would open faster.

We converted from Prologue and brought over five years of history. Now with seven years of history we see little difference in performance. Prologue ran on UNIX and was charcter based so it was very fast. Our first year on PE it ran on a Dual Pentium 866 server with 1 Gig of RAM. Since then we upgraded to a Dual Xeon 3.2 with 4 Gigs of RAM. This year we are updating all of the workstations. During all of that PE has worked very well for us. We have 1148 seats to sell for 116 performances and we do have some days that are very busy. Speed has never been an issue.

Similar to Dale. The only time we ever had a performance issue was 1st day of sale for a concert with 7,000 seats. At the Box office, things were fine, but with 200 concurrent web users buying on-line, PEO Web sales slowed way down (but never crashed). Been running PE for about 18 months.

We've been on PE for 4 years and PEO has yet to work properly. RPM

We purchased PE and PEO with the understanding that they could accommodate our unique situation. We are two separate venues and organizations, one arena and one theatre; we’ve always shared a ticketing system. It took us two years to get PEO up and running for one venue and then lost all of the information during an update. PEO is now running for the arena but it can only handle between 75 to 100 concurrent web users and the arena can seat up to 8000. You can imagine our first big onsale the system was useless. We still don't know if we can get the theatre on to PEO without disaster striking. We do not want to lose want little progress we have made. I could go on and on but I have to save my strength to deal with Blackbaud. RPM

I do not want to pretend to know what you have been through or what lies ahead for you but I do want to offer my support in anyway that I can because that is what this forum should be about. There is a growing number of users out there. You may have been one of a very few when you started this journey with Blackbaud but now you are not alone. Last fall I attended Blackbaud's Annual Conference and met some of the many users of Patron Edge there at the User Group meeting. Last week I attended another User Group meeting in Houston at the INTIX trade show. Meeting those other users made me realize that I was not the only one out there looking for answers.

Appreciate what you said, Dale, and could not agree more. I think this is a valuable forum to help each other. I appreciate all the responses JUST TODAY as my experience in the PE portion of the forums had been "there's nobody there!" so I'm glad we're growing here. I was actually shocked at the first response, and then, so many more people are joining in!! I'm happy to contribute where I can as we navigate into PE and then RE/PE and then PEO. At least I know what to expect with RE and FE, but PE is a different animal. We're a children's museum so have admission plus shows and classes. We seem to be the largest PE conversion they've done (or that the consultants on our project have been thru).

Hi, we've integrated RE/PE and soon to fully join is PEO. I'm happy there's a forum out there for issues. How about duplicates? Any problems - we're running into some.

Duplicates is an ongoing issue. I would ask everyone how they deal with duplicates or how you work to minimize them?
  • 02-13-2007 1:53 PM In reply to

Merging duplicates is a hand breaking task. I wish the system itself could do a de-dupe report and merge automatically. Instead we're running reports that sometimes work, checking boxes off and individually just to merge many times will cause an error. We're attempting to more firmly implement a data entry procedural manual - one that our ticket agents can quickly use to eliminate the possiblity of duplicates right at the ticket desk. But a larger problem may be PEO not recognizing members, former patrons, etc. Anyone with suggestions on this.......

What do you mean by PEO not recognizing members or former patrons? Do you have the integration turned on? We bought PE and PEO last summer and are still working through problems with integration. PEO for the most part is operational but still needs a lot of fine tuning. Its kind of a struggle getting help with this software considering that there is a limited number of consultants and Support is still very new. I am very nervous about the RE upgrade. Word is that a PE patch is available this coming Monday and this will allow us to upgrade RE. Is anyone else dealing with this? Akane Henriquez Chicago History Museum
