    7th Semester Cumulative GPA

Unless I have missed something, EE does not support computing a 7th semester (mid-year) cumulative GPA. Since most colleges ask for that on their mid-year reports, how are you all dealing with this? 7th Semester Cumulative GPA

We have a Semester 1 Calculation and a Semester 2 Calculation and we re-run GPAs both semesters. So, yes, it is possible as long as you have the calculation set up. However, on our transcript, only the end of year GPA/Rank shows. To do that, you first run the GPA calculation for Semester 1, then run the calculation for semester 2 so that the same GPA re-appears as the student's semester 2 average -- it will change when you re-calculate the semester 2 average at the end of the year. It really is very easy and only took about 3 minutes to do it, as long as you have the calculation set up. If you need help, I would be happy to assist!!

    7th Semester Cumulative GPA

You can do a 7th semester GPA. I do 7th, 5th, and 3rd semester GPAs every year at mid-term. We have Sem 1 and 2 marking columns, but we also use a Final marking column that is the average of Sem 1 and 2. For the 7th semester GPA, we just set up a GPA calculation in Configuration that uses Final grade 9th, Final grade 10th, Final grade 11th, and Sem 1 12th. At mid year last year there was a glitch in the software that caused the calculation to only use final grades. They fixed the problem with a patch early in 2006. It works just fine now. As I mentioned we do 5th sem and 3rd sem GPAs for Juniors and Sophmores with no trouble. 7th Semester Cumulative GPA

Beth - Do you all award half a credit for full year courses at the conclusion of the fall semester? Having EE calculate this GPA would be wonderful and I know it is doable; however, our school does not award credit until the completion of the course. Our old administrative software had a mulitplier field we could use to get around this. The wonderful support team at BB and our consultant have been unable to find a work around unless we award that half credit at midyear. I have floated the idea of awarding a "phantom" half credit - it is in the system but we know it is not really a real half credit - but is was received as warmly as another hurricane in Louisiana. Any other suggestions? Thanks, Scott College Counselor Episcopal School of Acadiana Cade, Louisiana 337-365-1416 [Email Removed]

Scott - we assign 1/2 a credit to each term and a full credit for the Year grade in every full-year course. We only use the term's 1/2 credit for cumulative GPA calculations of this type - it never shows on report cards or transcripts. Only the Year credit assignment shows on the transcript.
