    Converting from 6.4 to 7.6

We are preparing to convert from 6.4 to 7.6. Can someone who has done the same conversion tell me if the workstation update occurs automatically or did you have to manually install the workstation upgrade? At the organization I used to work for, we converted from 6 to 7 about 3 yrs ago and the workstation upgrade never seemed to work, maybe only on about 50% of our machines. We're trying to determine how much IT time to allocate. Whether or not we have to manually upgrade 50+ workstations will be a big factor. Thanks, Dee

The client stations do not upgrade automatically from 6 to 7. You have to manually uninstall RE6 (as I remember, the RE6 uninstall is quite manual, see BB web site). Then you have to manually install RE7. Once RE7 is installed, all following updates should automatically deploy to client stations. There are certian situations where the client stations will not automatically upgrade, the most common one I have seen is loss of access to the deploy share. Dee I have converted from RE 6 to 7.5 (working on 7.6 12 now). The users need to run the set up from the deployment package. If the users have the access to the directory share you can advise or send then a link to that and the user should be able to run it themselves. As for removing RE6 it is very manual, although not a necessity to remove as any attempt to open RE6 will fail after you have migrated to 7+. I found that leaving it on the workstation confused users though. Regards Sean Ryan Business Systems [Email Removed]
