    Savng & E-mailing a Crystal Report

Hi, Can I create a report and e-mail the finished version to someone else? Do I need to send them the data as well as the finished report? The few times I have tried, the person on the receiving end has not been able to open the report with any data it in. TIA, laura Laura A. You may want to send them an export of the data- in adobe pdf, or another format. If you need to send the crystal report, the person on the other end needs the data the report uses- and they'll need to point to the datasource (usually crystal will ask you to find the source if it can't find the source itself).

Are you using Crystal version 8? You can export it as an Acrobat document. If the person receiving the file has Acrobat installed they will be able to open it up. The icon with red arrow pointing in the envelop is how you export the report.

We do something similar with batch reports. We export the report into crystal. Clean up the format slightly. We then choose the export button on the tool bar, select the Word Exact Format, and send it Microsoft Mail (MAPI). I send this information to the whole department for review and it works great. Hope it helps.
