Export from FE to Excel results in bad formatting in Excel

We were having problems exporting from financial edge to Excel and retaining the formatting of the preview report. We didn't find any real answers on the knowledge base so we started testing on our own. We found a close to perfect solution by exporting directly from the preview screen before previewing. We would select Excell extended 8.0 and the key was using application. Every other combination we tried from this screen or the preview screen resulted in extra columns or worse in Excel. Note that even this solution does not work if you try to use the sort or project functions from either screen. As before your formating will be ugly.

The best results we have had are to export the reports using Excel 8.0 Extended WITHOUT using the preview. It still isn't perfect but that's how we have had the best success. This also eliminates problems with having too many columns in a report for the paper size you have selected and having them "cut off" in the preview.
