    Launching a new site

We are very close to launching our new net community website. From our test groups we have had approx 23% of those solicited registering. As these were "warm" groups we are working on a best guess approximate take up of 10% across the whole. We intend to send out a segmented mailing which will market this new facility to our alumni. As net community will only allow one user to authorise sign up requests at a time we are intending to stagger the mailing over 7/8 weeks (approx.16,000 solicitations per week). We will also have members of staff carrying out authorisations 6 days a week during this period. Can anyone out there give us any feedback about how U.S. Universities/Institutions have gone about the marketing of their sites and what percentages of their alumni have in fact signed up. This would be extremely helpful in informing the project. Many thanks for your assistance and we look forward to hearing from you.
