    Importing Data via Excel

I am working on importing beginning balances and monthly entries into Financial Edge G/L. Is it posible to import the data from an Excel speradsheet. If so, what is the format structure of the spreadsheet and how is it brought into FE G/L? I found a few postings in this forum, but they do not answer my specific questions. Thank you in advance.

First, create a new journal entry (you'll need to have a column on the spreadsheet with the je # so it knows where to import it). The columns on the spreadsheet match the columns on a journal entry, except debit and credit is only one column (d or c). You need to save as a csv file. In general ledger go to administration, import records. It's not the easiest thing to do if you haven't been trained. Aren't you working with a consultant to help you implement Financial Edge?

Paul, There are some very good helps in the Blackbaud knowledgebase, under the Support heading. We import several journal entries each month. The first couple of times is kind of tricky, but once you get the hang of it, it is great. Set up your Excel file with the proper fields, save it as a 'CSV' file and you are ready to go. Good Luck! Thanks for the information. We are working with a consultant, but it's been less than worthwhile so far in terms of providing suggestions on conversion. We have yet to be trainined on the system, just been giving a few overviews after we persisted. I am not impressed so far.

Is the consultant independent or do they work for Blackbaud?
