Has any one else found that after upgrading to 6.42.411 they are having all kinds of problems? We currently have three cases open with Blackbaud. All of which I consider major, one is the checks keep printing in a different order then the pre-check report states they will be. This is a problem because our checks are pre-numbered. The other is our Accounts payable person keeps getting kicked out when inputting invoices. And the last one I opened this case on Sept 6th is that the summary button on the Attendance tab doesn't work instead it kicks you out of the system.

We are experiencing the same problem with getting kicked out of A/P when inputting invoices. This is also happened when our A/P person went to process checks in Bank Accounts for the first time after updating to 6.42.411. Blackbaud has a knowledgebase solution # BB249158 which I found but the problem still occurs even when not in the 1099 box when saving the invoice as they state. The problem doesn't seem to occur when we disable out Trend Office Scan. As soon as we enable it we have problems again. What anti-virus software are you running. I am continuing to work with Blackbaud to figure this out. If you want to speak outside the forum to compare notes, I can be reached at 860-233-4481 ext. 123 Cindy Winslow

I was told on Friday that it even happens when we are careful about the 1099 box too. We are currently using Symantec Antivirus version 10 the corporate addition. Does it seem to be happening for you when they are inputting certain account numbers? Our A/P seems to think that it has something to do with some account numbers. After talking with our Antivirus personI found out htt we were running Symatec Antivirus version 10 since it came out this summer. We didn't have any problems before the end of the year update, so I am not going to have our A/P person turn off her antivirus software. --- Edited at 1/30/2006 10:11:20 AM by Robi Peters

Our A/P person has not noticed any problems with specific account numbers. It looks like there might be a conflict with our anti-virus software and Blackbaud because when she input her first invoice this morning she lost a significant amount of work as it has numerous g/l accounts. She then disabled the anti-virus software and she has been entering invoices all moringing without a problem. Needless to say, I don't like having the anti-virus disabled in order for her to do her work.

Our A/P hasn't noticed any problem with the g/l so far. But I will tell her to keep a look out for when she enters multiple account distributions. William at Balckbaud this morning did tell me that they found the problem to happen when they are click on the save button, we seem to get it when we use control & E. If she uses the exit button on an invoice it doesn't happen, but this doesn't help when you are putting in multiple invoices for one vendor. I agree that it looks like there is soemthing going on with the antivirus. When you ran the update did you have the antivirus software running on the server? We did, we also keep it running on each workstation unless they won't update. --- Edited at 1/30/2006 11:26:47 AM by Robi Peters

Cindy did you happen to download the patch that was put out? Blackbaud keeps asking me if I did it, which I haven't because it looks like it only fixes something in student bills and we don't use that module. I am afraid that it make cause more problems then we are already having.

We downloaded the patch last week that blackbaud had on their site- we were having student billing issues for over a week. Upon deploying on each workstation we continued to experience the same error... Come to find out the deploy was not updating the correct program on the workstations and we had to manually update each workstation -

So if the patch doesn't fix anything then I really can't see any reason to install it. I am still trying to figure out why they would insist that we install a patch for Student Bills to see if it will correct a problem we are having in Payroll.

Robi, I downloaded the 1/23/06 patch last week as I was told there was a client specific patch in it (even though not mentioned on the readme file) that might help us. It did not fix anything. But Dana in tech support told me that there is supposed to be a patch out this week to address this problem and that she will e-mail me when it is available. A word of caution - when I installed the patch last week I had a major problem which required me to remove AFN and reinstall it. I followed the procedures in the solution BB64036 for installing the patch and at the end, there was a note that I needed to extract the patch a second time in order for it to deploy to the workstations properly. I should have done this earlier in the process. I suggested Blackbaud put the note in the step where it needs to be done.

Cindy, Did you have to remove AFN from the server? If we had to do this it would be a disaster for us because we us both AFN and Payroll. We can not afford to have the Business office and Payroll office down for a whole day.

Read through the steps first and make sure you follow them exactly, paying special attention to step 2 (updating the deployment package) and the note at the end of the steps and you should be alright. Make sure that you have the download for update 6.42.411 saved somewhere and ready to use if needed. Excluding the time it took me to download the update again (it had been deleted) we were only down 1 hour and it was during lunch.

Cindy, Do you feel like you are getting the run around from support? They keep telling me that they fixed the problem with invoices closing in the latest update. This is funny because we did start having this problem until we updated. Our Comptroller contacted Blackbaud and all they have done so far is put in another case that state multiple problems in Payroll. So that makes five cases opened for us since this update at the end of December. This is the first time that I have had any problems with the Support down there.

Robi, I am quite frustrated. I just received an e-mail from support stating that they have resolved the problem in but in the Financial Edge. I have just communicated to them that we need it fixed in AFN 6.42.411. The 2/24/06 patch which I was hoping would resolve the matter based upon my last contact with support did nothing to fix the problem.

Cindy, I just did the patch from Friday. It is really funny because when I went to update all the workstations only three of them say a newer version, the rest still say 6.42.411. The three that say the new version happen to be our payroll people, and these users all have supervisor rights, but the rest of us even some of us with supervisor rights it doesn't look like it updated at all. I did notice it fixed one of our problems we were having in payroll, now I am waiting to see if it fix anything else.

Cindy, I am pleased to say that since we did the new patch yesterday no one has been kicked out of vendors. I think they may have actually got it right. Even thought this patch did not change the version numbers in anything except for payroll, it is worth running if you haven't already.I wish it had not taken such a long time to get this patch out to us users.
