    back ups

Our server is not backing up properly and we have our computer guy coming to fix it (we hope). It has been two weeks or more since our last back up that is on something other than the server (we use a disk backup for emergency). It will be another two weeks until out computer person can come. I was wondering if it was feasible and/or possible to do a manual backup and compress the files and send them to blackbaud to be put in our FTP folder as a way to have a backup incase something happens to the server.

You can also stop the BMC and copy the files to another server or workstation and/or burn a CD. By the way, disk-to-disk backup shouldn't necessarily be considered only for emergencies. It can be an important part of your normal routine. For certian files, we copy disk-to-disk and then backup the copy onto tape or we copy to a removable drive than can go off-site. There are lots of other backup solutions and services available which you may want to investigate. Barbara Prine Kingswood-Oxford School
