    Formatting options in postings

Suggestion to the forum administrators: I like the ability to add formatting to my posting, as well as adding the icons, but can the e-mail notification somehow accomodate that? When I'm reading the message in the e-mail, and I see instead of quotation marks, the characters " then it makes reading a little awkward. Could there be an option to e-mail in html format for those of us who could use that? Sincerely, David Drees Director of Technology Kingdom Building Ministries Denver, Colorado [Email Removed]

I have the same problem. Thanks for that suggestion.

I forgot to add another suggestion for the e-mail notification. Due to the length of the web link, it wraps to a new line after 74 characters. When I click on it, I don't go to the thread, but to the category. Can the e-mail notification increase the width to more than 74 characters so that clicking the link will take me directly to the thread? I have not had this problem. Is this something within your e-mail software? Mine is not wrapping so my link stays together. I wonder if this is something BB can change? Maybe they can make the path shorter so those of you who have a small line length won't get cut off. Melissa S. Graves Databse Administrator Planned Prenthood of Connecticut [Email Removed]

    74 character word wrap workaround

If you're using Outlook XP (and probably other versions of Outlook as well), you can change the length of the wrap to up to 132 characters, which will help. Go to Tools, Options, then choose the Mail Format tab. Under Message Format, click the Internet Format... button, and change Plain Text Options to Automatically wrap text to 132 characters.

[:)] Ah! How embarassing for an IT guy to not know that. Thanks for the Outlook lesson. That should do the trick. Sincerely, David Drees Director of Technology Kingdom Building Ministries Denver, Colorado [Email Removed]

OK, it didn't do the trick like I thought it would. Now, everything goes 132 characters wide EXCEPT for the link. I don't get it.

    74 character word wrap workaround

You are correct - it looks like whatever tool BLACKBUAD is using to turn forum messages into emails is truncating at 74 characters in the messages they send out. They need to change their emailing processor to not truncate any web links regardless of how long they are! Failing that, they should at least expand it to 132 characters, so most of their own links will not be truncated.

Why is this not an issue for all users? I have no problem with any of my links. If the truncation is coming fron BB then wouldn't it be a problem for me too? Melissa S. Graves Databse Administrator Planned Parenthood of Connecticut [Email Removed] 203-752-2804

    74 character word wrap workaround

Good question. However, if I check both via webmail or outlook, the link breaks at 74 characters. What email client do you use? Also, what does your link look like: a. http://www.blackbaud.com/support/forums/topic.asp?forumid=96&topicid=100&nodes=152,154 (odes=152, 154 on a separate, non-linked line) or b. http://www.blackbaud.com/support/forums/topic.asp?forumid=96&topicid=100&nodes=152 ,154 (the last part all on the linked line). I am able to click on the broken link in most cases and still get to the right website - perhaps that is what you are experiencing. Since its an ASP page, blackbaud is still able to link to the right page without the full address. However, there was one page that did not link me correctly, and I'd image the problem will get worse as the thread addreses get longer. No that there's anything I can do about this, but maybe the thread will help blackbaud & those who have the problem.

My link looks like your example 'a'. I use Outlook 2002 (XP). Sincerely, David Drees Director of Technology Kingdom Building Ministries Denver, Colorado [Email Removed]
