Has anyone had any success running FE under vmware ? We need a test server, but no all the time, we cannot afford the expence of a whole physical server. We use vmware for other products and I have heard blackbaud products don't work with vmware. any ideas ?

We have been running it under VMware for about a year and a half now, ESX server, though. We have both RE and FE on SQL, about 20k constituents...Hope that helps. Dan Barber Technology Administrator Campus Outreach Ministries

Thanks Dan That is interesting. We used VM Workstation to test an FE update and it failed. BB said it was because of VMWare.

What version of Workstation and FE are you using? There are some very basic differences, especially in the hardware drivers...you can get a trial of ESX (though you need a certified server that is available at the moment) and you could try it out on that and see if you can duplicate...
