Blackbaud has stated that they do not support accessing their products over VPN. This is something that I have looked into and spent some time researching and testing. I want to pass along to anyone interested the basic procedure to make this work. Our required environment for VPN access is that users have the following available on their home computers. I am also assuming that the home computer has NOT joined the Domain of your network. · Windows XP Home or XP Professional · DSL or Cable Modem connection to the Internet · Active and current virus protection on their home computer So far, I have only tested the Financial Edge over VPN. We are currently testing Raiser’s Edge. · Copy the FE_Deploy folder from your server to a CD · Install the FE_Deploy program on the home computer · Configure the home computer to be in a Workgroup with the same name as the Domain on your network. · Edit the lmhost.sam file on the home computer to reflect the IP address and server name that hosts the Financial Edge software. This file usually resides in c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc · Make the VPN connection. · Start the Financial Edge program.
