    Value of Stock Gifts

How do we determine the gift amout for a sold stock gift? Should we give the donor credit for the value on the date of receipt or the day we sell it?

The day you receive it. - or actually the day it leaves the donor's posession even it it sits with a broker for a day or more. Whether or not you sell it and at what price has nothing to do with the donor. Melissa S. The donor should get credited for the amount at the time the stock was donated.

Record it at the mean (average of high and low) value on the day it transferred to your account. You can get the information from your broker or go to quote.fool.com and search for the stock. This site will give you the high and low values. Deborah Lindsey Donor Relations Coordinator United Arts of Central FL [Email Removed] 407.628.0333 x31
