The Mission

The mission of International Justice Mission (IJM) is to protect people from violent forces of injustice by securing rescue and restoration for victims and ensuring public justice systems work for the poor.

The Need
As part of the IJM Communications department, the Web Developer will maintain and enhance various IJM web presences, email campaigns, and other web services that serve a variety of cross organizational needs. The Web Developer will also implement usability enhancements based on web analytics and SEO best practices, and help maximize Google AdWords initiatives. The qualified candidate will have at least three years of web development and coding experience, and a proven track record of success executing online marketing initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Produce cross-browser compatible solutions and implement front-end/back-end design changes to IJM.org (using the Convio CMS platform) and other IJM web presences that support required project objectives, are attractive to target users, and provide superior usability and navigation;
• Develop HTML email templates utilizing a combination of nested table structures and inline CSS, compatible across multiple platforms, browsers and email clients;
• Grow email subscription base and strengthen relational marketing through content customization, multi-variant testing, and effective e-mail content development;
• Monitor and evaluate web traffic and usage trends in order to make enhancements that drive search engine optimization and improve user experience;
• Advise on and develop new media communications solutions (interactive video, widgets, social media applications, etc.); and
• Perform other duties as required.

Required Skills and Experience

• Minimum of 3 years experience with web development and coding;
• Proven ability to translate design comps into front-end designs within a web-based content management system (Joomla, Expression Engine, WordPress, etc.);
• Experience using the Convio CMS for front-end design and e-mail marketing purposes;
• Proficient, hands-on knowledge of XHTML, CSS, JavaScript, as well as other web development/production tools;
• Strong command of web standards, cross-browser compatibility and various web-related optimization techniques;
• Strong working knowledge of Google Analytics and of search engine optimization best practices;
• Significant experience with online marketing including tagging, online advertising, and search engine marketing and optimization;
• Experience with other server-side languages such as Ruby on Rails, PHP, and AJAX is preferred;
• Experience in graphic creation/editing skills using Photoshop and Illustrator is preferred; and
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
