When doing manual/automatic backups through the Management Console with the "compress" option checked the backups will not compress. We just get the full backup. Even when ran manually it will not compress. Any ideas? Thanks!
Is there a size limit for this?
Hi Bill,
Is your SQL Server on a different Server than the Blackbaud Management Console? If so, there are some files that you may need to manually move over to your SQL Server. See Knowledgebase solution BB117058 for a list of files and their locations that need to be moved.
If this isn't the case, how big is your database, the backup files that is created and how much free space to have on the drive where you are backing up to? You generally need around have 2 to 3 times the size of backup file in free space for the compression to work. For example, if backup file is 1 GB then you need around 3 GB free for the backup to compress successfully.
If still having issues, I would suggest that you register the files in the Knowledgebase solution above on the BMC server.
Hope this helps!David
