    Synchronizing Raiser's Edge and Outlook

Does anyone out there sync their Outlook Contacts w/ Raiser's Edge?   Do you use a query to do so?  If so, what type of criteria do you use?   I'm looking at the manual on outlook integration and their only suggestion is a query of constituents for a solicitor.   I'm guessing my boss will want a hodgepodge of people, so I'm wondering what others do.

Also, having never done this, is this a good feature to use?  Should I anticipate any problems?

    Thanks!

    Hi Katie,

I use the sync feature to link contacts to RE and to add Actions to RE from my Outlook calendar.  My frustration comes when adding contacts.  I use categories in contacts and when I link to RE, it eliminates all my categories.  I have to be careful before linking to jot down all my categories and to add them back to the contact record.  Very time consuming.

There is a FAQ in Knowledgebase on how to set up the linking feature.  Once set up, it is easy to link from Outlook.  You can also import constituents from RE or Excel into Outlook and then link to RE.  It has bee some time since I did that, but I remember it was fairly easy.

     Good luck!

Thanks for your feedback.  I was beginning to think that no one synced and I don't want to do something that no one else is doing.  We of course sync our emails and what not, but wasn't sure about contacts and address book.  I'll pass your information on to my co-workers.

    Thanks again,

    K
