    Hosting a Web Server

     Hey guys!

I'm always interested in hearing about how you tackle things in your organizations, so I thought I would try to start a thread on people's experiences on hosting a website (not limited to PEO).

Who out there hosts their own website?  Did you contract a design firm to design the layout or tackle it yourselves?  What are some technologies that helped you (or would have helped you starting out)?

We host, not well, but we host. I'm waiting on some design training from Blackbaud and I've got a local IT guy that helps with the guts of the computers. Over all I am really happy with the way things are working if I could get the newest upgrade to work I'd be even happier. I think some system knowledgeand and maybe Java, HTML training would be something people should look into if they are planning on hosting.

    Hi Sean,

We host our own PEO site (www.theatreatthemill.com) and a few other of our corporate websites.  I'm the guy who does all the design and development work.  There is a lot of detail about setting up your own web server online.  In terms of PEO, certainly I would recommend hosting it yourself (dependent on cost though) as it gives you much more control and you don't have to keep using FTP everytime you need to move a file.
