    ResearchPoint users

    Hi:

Is anyone else using ResearchPoint instead of The Researcher's Edge?  I have found ResearchPoint to be frustratingly slow.  Has anyone else had this experience?

    Thanks,

    Hi, Cheryl!

I hope you are well! I have been using ResearchPoint since November. Although there are some issues that needs to be worked out, I think overall it's a decent product. I just wish the upgrade will come sooner than later. Are you liking the product overall?

    Re: ResearchPoint users

We started using ResearchPoint only recently.  Unfortunately, it's not something I use daily (or even weekly, sometimes even monthly!), so it's easy to forget where to find things.

Does anyone have any policies & procedures they could share, especially as it relates to integrating with RE and when/how to do that?

     Hi Julie,

To integrate with Raiser's Edge you just need to make sure Raiser's Edge is installed on your workstation and it is on at least version 7.84. Once that has been verified follow the steps below:

    1. Open ResearchPoint and go to the Prospects area.

    2. Click Raiser's Edge Integration on the Navigation bar on the left side (it should be a link).

    3. Now click Configure Integration on the left again and it will ask you to choose your Raiser's Edge database.

    4.  After this has saved click the Edit Credentials icon on the top right corner of your screen, enter your Raiser's Edge login credentials.

    5. Save this information and then go to configure fields on the left to dictate which information should transfer:

     - Note: If you do not have the Prospect tab in Raiser's Edge you will not be able to transfer data from ResearchPoint to Raiser's Edge.

This will set up the integration between the two programs.  On top of this we have just created a quick start guide for ResearchPoint that contains how to set up integration along with other tasks that are performed when getting into ResearchPoint.  Feel free to pass this on to any users for reference:

I'm still a new user but I've found that if you are screening outside people, you should import into Raisers Edge first and then import that GROUP into ResearchPoint, this way you can sync the entire group.  I'm still fumbling about in ResearchPoint. Hope that helps.

    Re: ResearchPoint users

Has anyone had problems with the integration of Raiser's Edge with Research Point after moving to a Citrix Server?  The integration is currently only possible OUTside of the Citrix Server which is an extremely slow process, working outside of that server!  I am wondering if anyone who has gone to NetCommunity Grow and uses a Citrix Server that is not Blackbaud hosted and if so, if the integration between RE & RP is enabled.  Please advise!  I appreciate ANY feedback!

    Re: ResearchPoint users

    Hey Carolyn-

I've had the same problem with the Citrix Server and RP not being able to communicate.  It is frustrating.  I can only access RP and RE if I am at a computer/desktop that has RE installed on the computer.  Luckily, I'm one of the few staff here who has a "real" computer and can access IE without too much problems from Citrix (everybody else is using a small box-like cpu called a thin client).  I have not used NetCommunity Grow so I can't respond to your question on that.  Good luck!

What is IE?  Also, are you accessing RP from within or outside of teh Citrix?  My email address is carolyn.zollars@pph.org.

    Hi Carolyn-

We have just subscribed to RP and are hosted. We have not started to use the product yet, however I was wondering have you worked out the Citrex situation with RE. Is there any information you can share that will help me get up and running in this process?

    Re: ResearchPoint users

     Hey Renee,

Great timing on the post about Citrix integration.  I have been speaking with Carolyn's IT department to get everything set up and we just finished publishing an icon to the Citrix MetaFrame.  If you have your IT follow the steps in the knowledgebase solution below it will do the same:

    http://www.blackbaud.com/kb/index?page=content&id=BB599144

Once this has been done you'll have a new icon when you log into Citrix.  If you open ResearchPoint from there you should be able to integrate the two databases together.  Feel free to have your IT team email me as this is a process I've been working on finalizing and documenting for other users.

    Re: ResearchPoint users

Carolyn, thanks for offering some help.  I'm sorry for the late response -- I just don't visit the forum as much as I should, and I didn't get a prompt.  It's probably my settings.  Anyways, Blackbaud and my IT department helped figure it out.  And IE is internet explorer :)

    Thanks again.
