My mailings have many duplicates in them because I have someone who has their own record, they are also a contact on an organization that we mail to, and they are also on another organization reocord as a contact because they sit on their board. I have a variety of mailings that I send out that are more than just fundraising, like our school magazine, invitations to school events, etc.
Does anyone have any suggestions about how to handle this?
Thanks,
Colleen

Couple thoughts: Am assuming your generating your mail list through RE Mail > Labels or could use this to create a query of what you need.
You could use different contact types for the different positions. On your mailings you can filter on contact types to include in mailing -it's an option on Org address > Step 2 Contact information . You can also uncheck the box 'print one for each contact found' if you're running mailing through Mail > Label. On this same screen is an option to choose how you want to handle it if contact has an individual record: mail to individual address only, mail to contact address only or mail to both.
You may wish to rethink if just because a person is sits on the board if they are a "contact". You can have the relationship but you may not need them marked as a contact.
Hope this helps or sparks an idea that helps.
Colleen - Are you using RE Mail to generate your lists? If so, there are lots of options in the Mail setup to account for these kinds of things. If you're just exporting from queries it'll be alot more difficult.
