    Director of IT Application Development

    Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation International (JDRF) is the worldwide leader for research to cure type 1 diabetes.  It sets the global agenda for diabetes research, and is the largest charitable funder and advocate of diabetes science worldwide. The mission of JDRF is to find a cure for diabetes and its complications through the support of research.  Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune disease that strikes children and adults suddenly, and can be fatal or lead to devastating complications. Since its founding in 1970 by parents of children with type 1 diabetes, JDRF has awarded more than $1.3 billion to diabetes research, including more than $156 million in FY2008.  In FY2008, the Foundation funded more than 1,000 centers, grants in laboratories, hospitals, and industry, and fellowships

    JDRF is currently seeking a Director of IT Application Development for our National Office located in downtown Manhattan.

    In this role you will manage multiple technology-based projects and staff in support of business groups. You will be responsible for the strategic and tactical planning of technology and people resources necessary for successful completion of multiple projects. You will supervise and mentor a team of Project Mangers and Business Analysts.

    SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Work closely with all business groups to insure proper implementation and maintenance of all business applications through out the organization.
    • Understand the strategic direction and ensure that new features and functions are implemented to conform to stated strategies and business needs.
    • Assign and communicate specific responsibilities to each staff member based on the individual's skills and level.
    • Manage consultant and vendor deliverables.
    • Train and mentor staff.
    • Manage project lifecycle for multiple projects, providing guidance and support for Project Managers and Business Analysts to ensure they develop and manage project plans that meet requirements for functionality, utility, and value.
    • Ensure that functional and technical specifications meet documented business requirements or business practices.
    Requirements Requirements include but not limited to:

    * At least 10 years of experience in IT

    * At least 7 year of experience in supervisory position.

    * Experience working with technical personnel and lead by example.

    * Experience working with high-level and senior management.

     

    The ideal candidate will have: 

    • Proven track record in proposing viable options and recommended solutions to address business problems and/or requirements.
    • Proven successful track record in project managing projects.
    • Proven track record in proposing viable options and recommended solutions to address business requirements.
    • Understanding the Application Development system life cycle and adhering to its process
    • Ability to lead and motivate a team to perform the identified tasks and deliver the project as per plan.
    • Knowledgeable in the Project Management discipline and process.
    • Strong interpersonal skills.
