    Manager, Development Services

     

    Position Summary/Essential Duties:  The Manager, Development Services will lead the Development Services team, serve as the liaison to UH’s Finance Department, and provide strategic vision to ensure the department’s goals and objectives are achieved.  Responsibilities include: 
    • Provide highly effective leadership to the Development Services team.  Recruit and retain top talent.  Plan and implement effective team meetings.  Set strategy and goals and oversee implementation.
    • Oversee the gift accounting system for University Hospitals to ensure that the daily activities of processing, receipting, acknowledging, depositing, and reporting of all gifts and pledges are being performed with maximum efficiency.
    • Serve as the primary liaison with Accounting, Treasury, and the Research Institute for all philanthropic financial issues.
    • Ensure the integrity of the UH donor database.
    • Lead the development, maintenance, and implementation of all Development Services policies & procedures.
    • Serve as the departmental expert on applicable gift processing guidelines, best practices, and laws.
    • Consult with IR&D senior leadership in devising database information and reporting systems.
    • Manage the production of all fundraising reports.
    • Serve as the primary liaison to IT&S for system installations, upgrades and integration.
    • Perform other duties as assigned.
    Education/Expertise:

    Bachelors Degree required, Advanced Degree preferred. 

     

    Experience & Knowledge:5-7 years experience in database management.  3-5 years in a supervisory role. Ability to lead in a fast-paced environment with little or no supervision.  Exceptional written, oral and interpersonal communication and organization skills are a must.  Ability to plan, execute and evaluate highly effective goals, programs and projects.  Highest levels of professionalism, diplomacy, independent discretion in decision making matters, and confidentiality are essential. Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:Extensive knowledge of Raiser’s Edge fundraising software preferred.  Working knowledge of fundraising software, Microsoft Office software, Crystal Reports Writer, and other query analysis tools.  Experience with Oracle desired.  Must have extensive knowledge of the guidelines and laws pertaining to the accounting of philanthropic gifts (i.e. Internal Revenue Service codes, campaign reporting guidelines, etc.)
