Has anyone been asked to supply a current recognition letter from the IRS?  Recently, in our area organizations, making a donation to, are requiring current IRS documentation.  We've always supplied them with our IRS verification of our registration with the state.  Obviously, this documentation is no longer acceptable.  Can anyone share what you know about this?    Thank you in advance for sharing your knowledge on this subject.

Are you needed the determination letter that comes from the IRS that states the date your organization was approved as a 501c3?

If so, call the IRS at 877-829-5500 (this is the number exempt organizations should call for assistance) to request an updated letter. You will need your EIN and it takes a few weeks to receive an updated letter.
