For those involved in physician campaigns, how do you handle credit for gifts from medical groups? Aside from the medical organization receiving hard credit, do any of you soft credit all the physicians within the group? If so, does each physician receive soft credit for the full amount of the gift, or is the gift amount divided by the number of physicians? Some medical groups we work with have 30-50 physicians who have not received individual soft credits in the past, but this is now being considered going forward. Any advice will be greatly appreciated!
I was waiting to see what other responses you received. Good question!
We have only soft credited the physicians in a couple cases that I can remember - when it's been 2-3 partners who 'own' the practice. The only ones we done that have been where those partners made the decision for their group to donate. (We soft credited full amount.) We have the same issue with some of our large law firms.
While it wouldn't necessarily be wrong to do, I can't see us spending the time needed to enter 30-50 individuals just to soft credit them, especially if it's "their employer" vs. "their company."
Hope you get some more responses.
Thank you for your reply, JoAnn. As you mentioned, the time needed to enter all the individual physicians is a concern, along with keeping the physician lists up to date as they do tend to move around quite a bit! I'll keep my fingers crossed for more responses as well.
