    Cost to raise a dollar

What expenses do all of you use when figuring the cost to raise a dollar? Do you count department expenses ie: salaries, pension, fica, health insurance benefits, tuition costs for employees, etc. Looking for a standard ... Thanks Cheryl Dancey Walsh College

In my opinion you count every expense - otherwise your dollars raised per spent is erroneous and falsely inflated. Expense means salaries, rent, utilities, benefits given to employees, materials, every single dollar that goes out the door should be counted.
