    Recurring gift acknowledgement

Just wondering if there are any conventions used for acknowledging recurring gifts, as opposed to pledge gifts.  e.g., Is a letter generally sent upon receipt of a donor's intentions, reflecting the donor's intended arrangement; an acknowledgment with each gift; or end of year letter, etc.?  Thanks for any feedback.

I do an acknowledgement for Recurring Gifts (indicating that it is a recurring gift and what the schedule is ($25 Biweekly, etc.) and then a annual statement at the end of the year. The payments on recurring gifts do not get acknowledgements or receipts.

That is what we do also and it seems to work well.

We do the same process: acknowledge recurring gift, payment amount/schedule.  However, we include a statement in this acknowledgement that we will send a receipt verifying the payments received at year end.  If they wish to receive a receipt for each payment they are asked to contact us.

We do that just in case they really want monthly receipts but I've never had anyone take us up on it.  End of year receipts are the preference.
