Is there any way to export the parameters for an income statement in order to create a custom report? We want to create an income statement that includes an asset account, even though income statements don't actually include asset accounts. It's for one specific instance but it would be incredibly helpful to us.

There is not a way to export parameters.  You could try a screen shot of the parameters and create a Custom Management Report, which allows you to combine balance sheet and income statement accounts.  This report is listed under Financial Statements.  Hope this helps

Have you tried to create a new template in Visual Chart Organizer?  Just copy over your default template and insert the account header/ total and account detail where you need it to appear.  As far as I can tell, VCO does not prevent asset accounts from being included on an income statement.
