    Online Course Requests (NetClassroom7)

    Hi,

Has anybody recently implemented the online course requests in Netclassroom7, where students log in and they choose their electives? If so, what are the weak points and we should be on the lookout for, and what went smoothly? We are thinking about this, and I am sure that it will not be as simple as setting up everything and going with the flow. Any input will be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

We had great success with this, we did not use any of the "dropdown" menus for selection, but just had the students type in the course numbers at the bottom of the selection screen.  We already had them use worksheets to plan their courses.

Be careful in the setup, you can not define max number of credits requested, but only courses - this gets goofy if you have LOTS of quarter courses.

We have used online course requests for a couple of years now.  We have had success with it, although we make sure to do some clean up afterwards.

Our biggest frustration with it is that after a certain date, we would like the course requests to be available for students to view, but not edit.  With the current system, if you give rights to course requests, it automatically gives edit rights.  We would like to have the requests viewable during the time period between the original request entry and the time the actual schedule is available, so that families can access the course list when buying books.
